Digital Communications and Community Coordinator/Manager

About the Alliance of Democracies Foundation

We are founded by Anders Fogh Rasmussen, the former NATO Secretary General and Prime Minister of Denmark, to advance democracy, and freedom around the world.

We run three programs:

  • The Copenhagen Democracy Summit, a unique gathering of both high-level leaders from politics, tech, and business, together with hundreds of people who stand on the frontline of democracy, taking on autocrats and dictators. To see highlights from our 2024 summit click here.
  • Business & Technology for Freedom & Democracy: We believe that democracy and free market economies are strongly interlinked. Business engagement is key to underpinning fundamental democratic values. We work closely with the tech industry to find solutions to the challenges technologies pose to democracy, and we bring forward new entrepreneurial ideas also as a way of spurring growth and stability in emerging democracies.
  • Creating an Alliance of Democracies: We aim to build a worldwide movement for an Alliance of Democracies consisting of democratic countries globally and among democratic forces everywhere. To that end, we work actively with governments, young leaders in democratic countries as well as democracy activists from non-free societies and emerging democracies. 

About the position

In this role, you would:

  • Manage communications outputs focusing on social media channels;
  • Develop the communication strategy that will create an impact on social networks in conjunction with the team;
  • Monitor and keep up to date on the new features of social networks;
  • Drafting and posting content, filming and editing video, designing graphics, engaging and growing our community;
  • You will also coordinate the team of junior staff in our Copenhagen office helping to foster a positive collaborative environment.

The role has periods of high-intensity work, not least around the Copenhagen Democracy Summit (usually held in mid-May).

Person Profile

We are a small team that has a large impact by advocating for closer cooperation among the world's forces of freedom and democracy and implementing initiatives that bolster democracy both at home and abroad. Our focus is on delivery, so we are looking for someone hands-on, constantly thinking of how we can use comms and social media to strengthen our network, to give a voice to frontline activists, and to promote fresh ideas that unite the world’s democracies to push back on authoritarian advance.

While we have set out a list of skills and qualifications below, we are eager to hear from you if you are:

  • Creative – eager to try new things and think differently about how to spread our message and build our global community;
  • Hands-on – able jump into various tasks and lead within the team;
  • Values-driven – wanting to make a positive difference in the world by strengthening the world’s democracies.

Qualifications/Skills

We are looking for a candidate with strong Social Media skills and background, including demonstrated experience in Social Media campaigns, a passion for international affairs, and a drive to promote democratic values. We imagine that you have 1-2 years of communications experience.

  • You have excellent communication skills and can proactively contribute to developing the foundations’ external communication by maintaining and upgrading our presence on our website, Facebook, Linkedin, X, Instagram and YouTube.
  • You are technologically adept and know how to film and upload video to various SoMe channels. Experience with CRM systems like Hubspot, and WordPress (or similar) is a large plus.
  • Good command of Community Manager tools and relevant analytical tools, e.g. Facebook and Instagram Analytics, Google Analytics.
  • Ability to manage a team of physical and virtual volunteers during the Summit, and to give day-to-day guidance to our junior staff at other times. Maybe you have experience from a political campaign or the like.
  • Strong project management & organization skills with an eye for detail.
  • Strong English skills, writing abilities, and attention to detail. Danish skills would be a plus. 

Working at the Alliance of Democracies Foundation

This is a full-time position located at our main office in Central Copenhagen. Wages will be based on qualifications. Seeking the right candidate, we are flexible on start date.
