Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2022
The 5th Copenhagen Democracy Summit took place on 9-10 June 2022. Uniting democratic forces to push back on the authoritarian tide was our ambition when we inaugurated the Copenhagen Democracy Summit series five years ago with Joe Biden as our inaugural keynote speaker.
Thursday was dedicated to technology and democracy including our Democracy and Tech Entrepreneur Fellowship. Friday focused on how to defend Ukraine, counter authoritarian powers, and build an alliance of democracies.

Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2021
The Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2021 took place in hybrid format on May 10-11, 2021. It drew participants from business executives, political leaders, activists and other democracy supporters to discuss the future of global democracy, US leadership and post-COVID recovery, technology and democratic trust.

Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2020
The Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2020 took place virtually on June 18-19, 2020. It drew participants from business executives, political leaders, activists and other democracy supporters to discuss how we need to come together in defense of democracy and freedom in order to face challenges related to the authoritarian resurgence by both China and Russia, the escalating tensions in Hong Kong and Taiwan, the US’s role as a global leader and how tech can support democracy.

Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2019
The Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2019 took place on June 27-28, 2019. The Summit highlighted important current issues facing the world’s democracies, and successfully brought together 500 participants from over 75 different countries with a range of backgrounds from politics, business, academia and journalism. The Summit offered a variety of viewpoints, the discussions highlighted both the challenges for the upcoming elections facing world democracies, but also the opportunities brought forward by technology.

Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2018
The inaugural Copenhagen Democracy Summit 2018 took place on June 22, 2018. The Summit highlighted important current issues facing the world’s democracies. As the Foundation recognizes the positive symbiosis between democracy and business and believes democratically elected leaders and global business executives will benefit from a greater level of personal interaction, the Summit successfully brought together more than 300 participants from over 40 different countries having a range of backgrounds from politics, business, academia and journalism. Offering a variety of viewpoints, the discussions highlighted both the challenges for the 20 elections facing world democracies, but also the opportunities brought forward by technology and trade.
